FC Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has broken another all-time record originally set by Spanish legend, Telmo Zarra. The two goals he put past against Elche made it his 77th brace scored.
That breaks the record of 76 held by Zarra, who played most of his career with Athletic Club in the 1940s and 50s. Cristiano Ronaldo is way behind on 57.
Messi’s goal scoring exploits have been remarkable, with 20 or more goals a season for the last seven consecutive years. This season he has already scored 31 goals in 28 games.
